BACKGROUND
Our final Advertising Design assignment was to develop either two 15 second TV Spots or one 30 second TV Spot to advertise one of several provided clients, in this case American Red Cross, Lay’s Chips, Sharpie, or Sriracha. As a long-time fan of spicy food and Sriracha in particular, the hot sauce stuck out to me as the most interesting—both personally and visually—and with the most potential to create something unique and dynamic.
PROCESS & TECHNIQUE
The graphic elements were originally drawn in Illustrator with the pen tool before being transferred over to After Effects for compilation and animation. Audio tracks were taken primarily from free online sources, although occasionally I recorded my own audio when I was unable to find a satisfactory example of what I needed.

COLOR SCHEME 1 ("VOLCANO"):
STORY BOARDS
I knew my final TV spots would need to simultaneously showcase the Sriracha brand as something exhilarating which excites the senses while also highlighting the "hot" factor of the hot sauce. While compiling the story boards for this project, I came up with the tagline "Explosively Tasty" and used that to develop my ideas around. The first two things that come to mind for me when I hear the word "explosion" are bombs and volcanos, so that easily became the basis for my two TV spots.
COLOR SCHEME 2 ("A-BOMB"):
VECTOR ELEMENTS
With the story boards completed, I moved on to creating the 2D elements I'd needed for the final video. All elements were directly hand drawn by me in Illustrator with the pen tool, the only exception being the label on the front of the Sriracha bottles, which was taken from an image found online. Once these vector images were completed, I used Photoshop to compile the necessary gif files before importing everything into Adobe After Effects for the final compositions.
