BACKGROUND
This was a fun bit of podcast cover art my wife Anna and I did for Bonfire Babble, who use their platform to provide deep-dives into the background behind modern and historical magic practices, concepts, and people. While I'm normally skeptical about this kind of stuff, I was pleased to find that every subject they approach is extremely well researched and presented objectively, so I even if you're not much of an occultist yourself and your interest is purely academic, I would still recommend giving them a listen.

PROCESS & TECHNIQUE
This initially began as a passion project for my wife, who starting by mocking up a rough framework of what she was wanting before handing it over to me. From there I adjusted the composition, redrew the line work, and did a flat color pass. To get the shadows, I placed two dark purple layers set to the "Multiply" blending mode and 45% transparency over the composition and simply masked out the areas where I wanted to bring out mid-tones and highlights.
